Training Information

There is a lot of different training, but I'll start at the beginning and work my way up...

Private Pilot Training consists of three phases, the first phase includes basic maneuvers, takeoff and

landings, and aircraft operation and culminates in a solo flight.  The second phase of flight includes the written

exam, dual and solo cross-country flights.  The last phase of flight includes night flight and putting together all

the knowledge and maneuvers learned so far.  The third phase culminates in the practical test, which includes

an oral exam and a flight with a designated examiner.  Then, you are a licensed private pilot!

Instrument rating training is one of the most challenging training opportunities available.  It will allow you to

fly in the clouds.  It requires a complete understanding of the aircraft and operating procedures.  This will truly

make you a better and safer all around pilot.  You must hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate to be eligible to

begin training.  Just like the Private Pilot Training, this training consists of a written exam, an oral exam, and a

flight with a designated examiner.

Commercial Pilot training is mostly about demonstrating knowledge and skill levels associated with a

professional pilot.  Each subject area from all your previous training is covered in greater depth.  The

Commercial Pilot must exhibit extreme competence in a variety of flight situations from a grass strip

surrounded by tall trees, to the busy large city airport environment.  The Commercial Pilot must be familiar

with different types of aircraft and their operation and demonstrate smoothness on the controls in flight

maneuvers that span the entire flight envelope.

Recurrent training can be some of the most exciting training you'll ever take.  I like to keep it a learning

experience while keeping it new and exciting.  Whether your weak areas include tower operations and talking

to air traffic controllers or if you want to take it back to basics with grass runways, we have exciting training to

help you get back in practice.  Other specialty flights inclued:  Landings, Emergency Operations, Night Flight,

Cross-country Planning and Procedures, and others tailored to your flight needs.

Endorsements such as complex, high performance, and tailwheel are also offered.

I also offer spin training in the Skyhawk.

I stress emergency procedures in my curriculum.  I do a lot of scenario based training, which has been used in

military and airline training for years but is just starting to make its way into the general aviation realm.

Hopefully you will never have to deal with an emergency, but you'll know how if the time comes!
