I was first introduced to flying at the Aitkin Municipal Airport in 1996, and since then have sought flight instruction in many different aircraft and locations including flying around Oahu, Hawaii and just over the Statue of Liberty at New York City.
After graduating Aitkin High School, I attended Central Lakes College and then the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics with a major in Air Traffic Control, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 2004, I started my Master of Science in Aeronautics at UND, although it will be awhile before I complete this!
I am a licensed Commercial pilot with an instrument rating as well as Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and Multiengine Instructor. I hold complex, high performance, and tailwheel endorsements.
I place a high value on emergency training, meticulous maintenance programs, and safety concerns. I started McNevin Aviation Inc. because of these issues and am the only flight school I know of that holds these in such high regard. The curriculum was specially designed with safety, emergency training, and maintenance in mind. The aircraft are constantly being upgraded. The more they are flown, the more money goes to upgrades. McNevin Aviation Inc. is a member of Cessna Pilot's Association and has integrated their maintenance recommendation into our program.
I’ve had jobs at several airports and flight schools, worked aviation security, flown fire patrol, been an aviation teaching assistant, and an air traffic controller. I enjoy competition aerobatics and am a member of the experimental aircraft association, international aerobatic club, warbirds of America, civil air patrol, commemorative air force, aircraft owners and pilots association, national association of flight instructors, and alpha eta rho international co-ed aviation fraternity. I’m involved in the Young Eagles program and the FAA Wings Pilot Proficiency program. I’m also an active member of the Civil Air Patrol, Crow Wing Squadron.
